A Bum No More

DAY 1
We went to different places and we enjoyed the things we saw. The road trip was butt warming but it was fun. It's like we were touring places we've never been to before.

DAY 2
Behind us is an illustration of what's happening inside a maturing egg. We were trying to figure out why people love to eat balut. Poor unborn chicks. Don't get me wrong I also love to sip the sabaw inside the balut but I don't like to eat the chick especially if it already has hair and stuff.
The joys of that day - Cecil, Lays, & Cheetos. Haha. We were trying to figure out what breed this dog is and we just said - Hush Puppies. We know it's just a brand. Just in case you didn't know too - dachshund is the correct breed. Cecil was so chubby and energetic. She was delighted to see new faces and wanted to play around but we were a little scared even though she was friendly. I don't know how she gets by with no other dogs in the vicinity. That's Sir Prox by the way trying to make Cecil look at the camera.
We love that we get free food for this. I think its one of my weaknesses. Just give me food and I'll do whatever you want! Just kidding. Haha! Enough of that... Let's get a little serious this time.

Gone were the bum days! I'm more determined than ever to work. Finally got in for a training program at a hospital in my hometown and it starts on June 3. Until then I'd still be a bum, well at least I thought so until Hannah texted me that she had a 2 day job for us. Well, I need it so I was going for the gold!
It was a vaccination "gig." Our skills for intramuscular injection was  highly called for. We went to different areas of their farms and plantations. We were amazed of how vast their lands were and how they manage to keep them all going so well. Not all their workers availed the vaccine but the owners set a good example by getting one for themselves.
It's funny how the men were scared of the needles and some even get second thoughts after we disinfect the site. They teased each other like little kids. But somehow they gather up the courage to man up and get the vaccine, after all it's for their own good. The two days of work was tiring but fun! We felt so fulfilled afterwards. We got to see a lot of things that we don't usually see in the city. You learn to appreciate a lot of things in life.
Humble beginnings. That's another thing I realized that day. The owner started off with balut and selling some eggs at a certain mall. We didn't get the full story but somehow she managed to make it huge. Look at where she is now. Her employees also told us how they treat them well and keep themselves grounded. Now that's something eh?  I guess great things really don't come easy. We need to strive hard to get what we want in life. Like what I've said before you don't have the right to quit if you didn't even try hard enough.
This experience has been very helpful to me. I'm gonna take baby steps and reach my goals slowly but surely.

Twenty Two ❤

Snapshots from my birthday :)

Finally turned 22! I wasn't really excited for my birthday this year. I was already used to having a simple dinner with my family and all hope was lost when I received a message to get a medical check up for my upcoming training in a hospital in my hometown. I had no choice. First things' first! No one else was around at my hometown except me and my father... and of course my friends + boyfriend. They were asking me what were my plans and I honestly have none since I was broke. I asked for money so that I could treat my friends with pizza. Le boyfriend however was all giddy and stressed out and kept telling me to invite friends over and I was like... Why would I invite when  I don't even have a party? I was thinking about inviting a few friends who were close to me. He couldn't keep it to himself any longer and told me that he prepared something for me - LECHON. He knows how happy I am when I get to eat that especially the thready like parts. I was at awe when I heard that and I din't know how to react. It, almost, even brought me to tears. Haha. I get touched easily. Don't judge.

So, I had to go home immediately to make our house more or less presentable for my friends. Even though there were only a few of us we totally had fun! A lot of food for everyone. Of course this wouldn't be possible without the help of our friends and his family. I was really touched. Never felt so special. It may have not been the perfect birthday but I was at my happiest that day.

The overflowing love from friends and Corny is overwhelming and I'm just thankful that even if sometimes life gets rough I'm still blessed with wonderful people in my life.

Thank you to everyone who sent messages, calls, and the like! You made my day! I love you all. My life as a 22 year old lass has just begun and I can't wait to make the most out of it. Looks like you'll be joining me in my life adventures a little longer.

Tea'Amo Bistro

Have you ever been to Tea'Amo before? Well, you should probably visit them sometime soon again because they just underwent some minor renovations and a little rebranding. It just started last year around March and looks like they're already making it big. They never really thought of having students as their target consumers but it ended up that way. It was a place for college students reviewing or just hanging out. As they made some changes they are hoping to cater different groups of people.
And that explains our simple gathering with the owner themselves and a few other bloggers. We were fortunate to have the leisure of time to ask them questions.
The place now looks more of neutrals rather than the colorful/girly/cutesy image before. So men... no need to worry about that anymore. I love the place either way of course. But it felt more "homey" before. Of course they were known for the sticky note walls. The space is now limited  for that but the sticky notes remain! You can still post them on a corner provided for it. The place also expanded which gives us a larger space for more people.
The choice of music is also good because it's relaxing and not too loud.

After getting a glimpse of the place we were lucky enough to get a taste of their main courses which they take pride of. I guess we should give them bragging rights for this because I loved everything!

Mamita's Chicken Parmigiana
Breaded chicken breast topped with tomato sauce, Parmesan and mozzarella cheese
Since it's already boneless it's so much easier to eat and the sauce is also very tasty. I'm not a fan of java rice but I really like how light the taste of their java rice is. Just the way I like it.

Caldereta Bordeaux
Slow-cooked beef bathed in our special sauce
This meal has a hint of red wine and I love how the meat is so soft and easy to chew. The flavors aren't just on the outsides but you can taste it with every bite.

Adobo Festival
A classic homegrown recipe of their family used to serve during festivals
When everyone saw this they were all complementing the presentation. So "pinoy" and we love how they pair up meals if it's better with plain rice or java rice but you can request whichever you prefer.

Spicy Pork Cracklings
Pork slices fried with that guilty crunch, served with a special tangy sauce on the side
Just the right amount of spice! And it's crispy like chicharon but of course tastier. "Pwede pang pulutan!" one of us jokingly said. They plan to server alcoholic beverages but it's not yet final and hopefully they will extend their store hours soon.

Curry Tilapia with Mango Cilantro Salsa
Freshly cooked curried Snapper/Tilapia infused in a unique marriage of Middle Eastern and Asian flavors
This one's amazingly flavorful. I could love how the flavors work inside my mouth. It's my first time to try tilapia paired with mangoes and it's utterly pleasing to the senses.

Creamy Chicken
Tender-cooked chicken with a veil of cream, topped with kangkong leaves

It stands up to its name. It is creamy and the kangkong leaves are very translucent and yummy!

Home Sweet Ribs
Soft ribs with that familiar home-cooked taste
I think this would be one of my personal favorites since it has that sweetness that I'm looking for plus the easy chewing and the wonderful java rice. I love how generous they are with their servings. You get what you pay for. Your money doesn't go to waste.

Coconut and Pesto Pork Braise
Slow braised pork blanketed in a cream mixture of coconut and pesto

Oatmeal bars and crinkles with an Oreo surprise
Their pastries are all home-baked. I like the way they put a twist on the crinkles. It has an Oreo inside!

and of course we got a free drink before we headed home.  I got the green apple kiwi iced tea! It's more on the green apple side :)

Everything looks promising eh? I can't wait to go back and visit it with friends and loved ones. Check them out as soon as you have the time!
